A Message from our Head of School

A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Charger Community:

We were founded in 1970 at a time when busing and desegregation were happening in our country. Many independent schools began during this time, creating a phenomenon that historians now call “white flight.” We believe we have traveled far from our humble origins in 1970. Fifty years later, we have 72 nationalities represented on our campus. Our journey to become a local and national leader in academic excellence is cause for celebration, and we hope you’ll join us.

We’re embarking on a year-long commemoration of this 50th anniversary, and we’re inviting you to share your favorite memories of your own time at PD. Please explore this website for up-to-date news and happenings planned for this year.

Our campus may have changed, but our “special sauce,” which is made up of our faculty, staff, and coaches, are still bringing that sense of home and family to all who are a part of our community.

We’re now planning for our next 50 years and we’re thrilled to be doing it with you, our PD families. Thank you for being #AlwaysACharger!

Cheers,

Dr. Glyn Cowlishaw
